Abstract

To reduce a traffic congestion at an at-grade intersection near a big city, one method is construction the special bridge at the old junction in two directions on one of the main highways. It facilitates the traffic volume in the directions of the bridge, but the infrastructure cannot fully solve all of the problems especially on the secondary road. Under the bridge, although it relieves the traffic congestion at the crossroad, still uses the same control similar to the situation "before" such as the fixed time control plan of the traffic signalization. After controlled by this method, it was found that about 30 - 35% of all traffic volumes diverted to the bridges, and time delay reduced to 30% over the same period. This research is one part of author thesis work, presents the issues that still be found in the existing flyover area and suggesting improvement more benefit such as creating a new cycle phase time and improving the physical area. The SIDRA software is used to determine and point out the appropriate fixed time plans, and using the process of a Road Safety Inspection (RSI) to audit on fields and presents some serious of the traffic problems.
